The Channel Surfers is a podcast and newsletter hosted by Jeff Lennon and John McCabe. This page explains what information this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. Questions go to guest@channelsurfers.com.

What we collect

  • What you send us. If you use the contact form, we get your name, email address, and message. If you apply to be a guest, we get your name, company and title, email address, LinkedIn profile link (if you add one), and the story you write.
  • Technical data. Our hosting provider, Netlify, automatically logs standard request data such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit. This is used to run and secure the site.
  • Anonymous traffic stats (only with your OK). We may use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people read. It only runs if you click Accept on the cookie notice. If you decline, or never answer, it does not load.

Cookies

This site does not set its own cookies. Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them. Sites we link to, such as YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, LinkedIn, and Substack, set their own cookies under their own policies. Some images on this site, such as article thumbnails, load from Substack's and YouTube's servers, so those services can see your IP address when the images load.

How we use it

  • To reply to your message or review your guest application.
  • To keep the site working and secure.
  • To understand what content is useful, if you accepted analytics.

We do not sell your information.

Who else sees it

We use a few service providers to run the site: Netlify (hosting and form handling) and, if you accept analytics, Google. They process data on our behalf. We may also share information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep messages and guest applications as long as we need them to respond, schedule, and follow up. You can ask us to delete yours at any time.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you by emailing guest@channelsurfers.com. Depending on where you live (for example California, the EU, or the UK), you may have additional rights, and we will honor them. You can also clear analytics cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Children

This site is for business professionals and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
